How this works?

It is simple. This is done through Pearson VUE’s Online Proctored Exam platform.

Requirements to take the Online exam

While the eligibility criteria to take the exam remains the same, the only difference is in the way you take the exam –

Center based CBT (where you need to take the exam in a defined location which is a Pearson’s testing center)  or

Online CBT (where you can take the exam from any place of your choice.)

To take the Online exam, you need the following:

1. Quite space, with out any interruptions
2. Uninterrupted power supply and internet connectivity
3. Computer or a Laptop with webcam

Candidates based in which country can take Online PMP Exam?

Candidates from all over the world except Cuba, Iran, Sudan, North Korea, Mainland China, Japan, South Korea and Slovenia, can take this online pmp exam.

How the whole Online process works?

• It is very much similar to center-based testing. The main difference is the proctoring. In Online exam, there will be proctor assigned from starting of your exam till closing of it. The proctor can monitor you activities through the webcam. Need not say, there will be security checks, which ensures that you do not by-pass the webcam or use a clone webcam.
• The proctor can also monitor through microphone of the system.
• Once the check in starts for the exam, you will not be permitted to leave the room or move out of the sight of the proctor, other than a 10-minute break allowed during the exam.
• After the break, the check in process starts all over again.
• You will not be able to access the previous questions, you answered before you took the break.
• If you do not return to the room at the conclusion of your 10-minute break, your exam session will be terminated.

Hmmn…some challenge for the exam taker here. Still manageable.

What if I have a query during my Online PMP Exam?

There is a Chat function available using which you can contact the proctor for help. The proctor will get it sorted out.

What if I have a technical problem during my Online PMP Exam?

• The proctor will help you during this process. If Chat is not available and any other online option to reach you is available, the proctor may call you on your mobile to assist you.
• However, the lost time, can not be compensated. The time is gone. Meaning that this technical support time will eat into your exam time, leaving less time for the remaining exam.

What if I have a technical problem and want to reschedule the exam?

• The proctor will help to reach Pearson VUE, and an incident may be raised. This incidence report may not help you with the time lost or may with the exam fee.
• Remember, any one with malicious intentions tried to fake any technical issue, will be loosing the motivation and momentum, as rescheduling will mostly damage both. This is not an option, but a workaround.

Is the whole process secure?

Yes, certainly, PMI is well aware of this and they need to ensure the prestige of the PMP certification exam, as always.

• Not permitted to talk, stand or mover from your seat.
• No one is allowed to enter the room.
• Impersonation/Proxy is not possible as AI enhanced software ensures any misconduct is detected and reported immediately.
• The system ensure that your laptop or the computer is not connected to any other devices, monitors, etc.
• During the check-in process, you have to show the whole room to the proctor using the webcam. Only after he or she is satisfied, the exam is allowed.
• You are not allowed to speak or read the question aloud.

Our Recommendation

Go for Online PMP Exams if you ensure the following:

• A Quite place is required
• No disturbance what so ever should be there
• Sure of your internet connectivity and power supply
• Keep away from all the kind of noises like door bells, neighbors pet barking, music systems, and no celebrations are happening in the neighborhood

Do remember that:

• You cannot go the previous section of question before the 10-minute break, will not be a big advantage for you.
• Any time lost due to technical issue will not be compensated.

Hmmn…how many of them are in your control? You decide.

Any ways, give preference to a professional testing environment.

My first trust goes with Center based test.

But if you have any travel constraints, then go for Online Exam.

Finally, it is not the mode which matters, it is the prep and your focus matters.
